Biography

Sophia Ramirez is a multidisciplinary artist living in Oakland, CA. Through her practice, she works to unravel and reconfigure cultural histories, creating new meaning within the context of the socio-political landscape of today. Intergenerational relationships, collective memory, and shared experiences within queer culture become catalysts for her material exploration.

In 2021, Ramirez was a recipient of the Nancy Cook Travel Photography Fellowship and awarded Creative Excellence by Mills College Department of Art and Visual Culture. She exhibited work in the 2021 Mills College Senior Exhibition, and 2023 group exhibition, On Site, at Slide Space 123, Oakland, CA. Sophia Ramirez graduated from Mills College in 2021 with a B.A. in Studio Art and History.
