Bio
Sophia Ramirez is a multidisciplinary artist living in Oakland, CA. Through her practice, she works to unravel and reconfigure cultural histories, creating new meaning within the context of the socio-political landscape of today. Intergenerational relationships, collective memory, and shared experiences within queer culture become catalysts for her material exploration.
In 2021, Ramirez was a recipient of the Nancy Cook Travel Photography Fellowship and awarded Creative Excellence by Mills College Department of Art and Visual Culture. She exhibited work in the 2021 Mills College Senior Exhibition, and 2023 group exhibition, On Site, at Slide Space 123, Oakland, CA. In 2024 Ramirez was a part of the group exhibition “Letter From The Network” at Berkeley Art Center, and Root Division’s “2024 INTRODUCTIONS”. Sophia Ramirez graduated from Mills College in 2021 with a concentration in Studio Art and History.
